You should definitely watch the first one. My advice is watch and rate this movie for yourself if its available on TV. Maybe the first movie has driven my expectations to high (and my rating down). My overall complaint would be that the parts of the story are not well fitting and the character chemistry is a bit off. There is some development that fells natural. The twist don't work that great and the final is a little bit unbelievable. I want to say it is not a bad movie but inferior to the first. This is caused because you expect more and the sequel has to be upped to eleven. There are ideas that work only ones and are wasted in a sequel. Now You See Me just throws in all kinds of tricks and twists without any build up or thinking about whether or not it makes sense. Film Review: ‘Now You See Me’ Reviewed at AMC Loews Lincoln Square, May 30, 2013. There are ideas that work only ones and are wasted in a sequel. Despite an ensemble cast and a superb (and largely original) premise, the film runs out of genuine tricks a tad too early. Directed by Louis Leterrier and co-written by Boaz Yakin, Now You See Me deceives you more often than it should, and doesn’t offer you quite enough in return. They should have stopped after the first movie (I gave it a 10/10). Rating: Add to To Watch list, watch some day. Also, it has a strong Romantic, liberal worldview that gets revenge from large. Thus, its most elaborate revelation simply doesn’t add up. Hopefully, this does well enough to justify a third instalment in the trilogy. NOW YOU SEE ME is fun to watch, with appealing performances, fast-moving action, and many laughs, but like the magic showmen it portrays, it ultimately rings hollow when you start thinking about it. If not, you probably won't think much of it. Bottom Line: if you enjoyed the first one, you'll probably enjoy this. There was a good balence between humour and thrills as well. There were plenty of plot twists (some clever, some a bit far-fetched) to keep your interest throughout. Isla Fisher's character was missed, but her replacement was energetic enough to fill the void. The cast were as good as ever, with Mark Ruffalo, Jesse Eisenberg and Morgan Freeman in particular, adding to their characters and making them more interesting. Isla As with the original, Now You See Me 2 makes up for its lack of substance with charismatic stars and an intriguing plot. The most common criticism is that various plot points were insufficiently resolved at the film's conclusion, leaving some questions unanswered or answered unclearly (although some suggested that this was intentional, leaving room for a sequel). As with the original, Now You See Me 2 makes up for its lack of substance with charismatic stars and an intriguing plot. Now You See Me received mixed reviews from critics.
